Jim and I sit at our kitchen table and watch the boys out the window
romp  and play.  We could sit for hours and they would keep us entertained with the
running and playing tug a war with the tubes and the hula hoop, or even a
cardboard  box.  They have a tether-ball and they get it swinging around, they just
don't like it much when it comes back around and tonks them in the head.

The grand kids love them. They run along the outside of the pasture and
the boys chase them. I'll never forget right after we got them we were
standing out by the fence and had just gotten done feeding them a carrot
and I was talking to my daughter, and Sarge leaned over the fence and picked
my  granddaughter up by the shoulder of her coat. The look on her face was
priceless, He thought he should get another carrot and when we didn't pay
attention he got our attention by picking her up that's for sure. The
girls send hours outside rubbing them and playing with them when they are out
here staying with us.    We have 4 cats and they delight in teasing the boys.
They have a couple of traffic cones that they play with, and the cats like to hide in
them and  jump out at them when they are not expecting it. Its so funny to watch
them.   The cats think the water trough is for them so they are always going in
and  climbing up to take a drink. When we feed the boys the cats think its play
time so the run around the field while they are busy eating. It's like
they are saying this was our play area first.

They haven't learned to hee haw yet they got the hee but not the haw. I
asked Longhopes when they would learn to do that and she said they usually
only  do it when they want something we are not giving them but they probably
are  getting everything they want and that's why they don't hee haw. When I go
out  to see them I always try to get them to do it but when I tell them to talk
to me they just whine like babies.

They are so nosey. We can always tell where a noise is coming from
because they hear it and they stop and stare. My daughter lives across the
road from us and they hear her come out of her house and all attention is
focused over there. If a car comes down the road same thing stop and
stare.

They don't let anything get past them without noticing it.   When they first came
to us it seemed like Sarge was the more affectionate one but Boomer has
moved right in with the displays of affection now too.  They like to put their heads
on our shoulder and they try to wrap their leg around us like they are trying to
give us a hug. When were out with them  they put their ears back and nip at us
and it's as if they are saying "come  on lets run and play"  I just wanted to let
everyone know what a joy it is to have them and to  love them them and feel all the
love they give us in return.

Thank You  Pam and Jim

For as long as I can remember I have wanted a donkey, But as you know
that's not allowed in the city. So when we built a house and moved to Byers
my dream came true. The hard part was making a choice when we went to
Longhopes. I know what made up our minds, Sarge put his head on my husband Jim's  shoulder and batted that big brown eye at him, that was it. Sarge and Boomer  became a part of our family the 1st part of November 2003.

We have such a good time with them, If one gets attention the other one
gets jealous. ( JUST LIKE KIDS ) but of course they are our kids.
It's like were raising 2 teenage boys ( and I thought I was done raising
kids ).
